The ‘Rope Access Safety Supervisor Training, Assessment and Certification Scheme’ (IRATA RASSTACS) [TC-401] provides a framework for IRATA member companies to design training courses tailored to their specific regional and operational needs while adhering to IRATA’s world-leading safety standards.

The training will elevate the capabilities of IRATA Level 3 Technicians, equipping them with advanced safety and supervisory skills. By supplementing their existing rope access expertise, RASS certification prepares IRATA Level 3 Technicians to become outstanding leaders capable of adapting to the dynamic challenges of rope access operations.

The course addresses the growing industry demand for advanced supervisory skills and ensures Technicians leave our training centre, or represent our company on-site, with unmatched expertise.

The course is delivered across 2 days training + (RASS Theory Exam must be completed on a separate day to the Training.)

Note: This course does not require practical rope access training.

Assessment methods:

Formative assessment:

Throughout the course, candidates will be required to complete scenario-based group exercises and tasks from the RASS Training Manual, and will be provided with ongoing feedback to assist the candidates learning by identifying their strengths and weaknesses. Exercises will include:

• Written assessments covering all modules will be conducted at the end of the course (ten multiple choice questions)
• Hazard identification exercises using examples scenarios of typical worksites
• Risk assessment exercise using examples scenarios of typical worksites

RASS Theory Examination:

Following the completion of the RASS training course, candidates will have 60 days (from the first day of Training) to successfully complete a RASS Theory Examination.

Exams are delivered by an independent online examination provider (Pearson Vue). This means you can sit the exam online, at home, at 5th Point (on a separate day from the Training), at a Pearson Vue test centre, or an alternative location, provided system and exam conditions are met. If you choose to sit the exam at an alternative location (not a Pearson Vue test centre), you will be invigilated and recorded for the entire exam to ensure exam security and rules are adhered to.

The Examination is made up of 50 knowledge-based questions and 2 scenario-based questions, and you have 90 minutes to complete it (+30 minutes where an accommodation is valid). For more information about the RASS Theory Examination, please refer to IRATA Candidates Guide to IRATA RASS Training and Assessment.

This course has the following prerequisites:

• IRATA Level 3 technician
• Hold a valid First Aid certificate
• IRATA Level 3 certificate must be valid during RASS training and on the RASS Examination Day.
• Registered on IRATA’s TechConnect system
• Must present government issued identification and logbook at the commencement of training
