Enter and Work in Confined Spaces

Workplace injuries and deaths are a serious cause of concern in Australia. Due to the manner in which these statistics are recorded it is difficult to determine the number of deaths / injuries that occur in confined spaces in Australia. However, international statistics indicate that the majority of confined space fatalities result from unplanned rescue attempts.

This nationally accredited one-day course (approximately 6-8 hours) provides knowledge and skills for enter and working in confined spaces. 

The course includes:

•  Definition of a Confined Space and Confined Space Entry
•  Planning the Work
•  Identifying Hazards and Controlling Risks
•  Common Hazards Associated with Confined Spaces
•  Control Measures for Working in Confined Spaces
•  Emergency Procedures
•  Clearing the Work Area

This course equips participants with the knowledge and practical skills to identify confined space hazards, conduct risk assessments, apply isolation and permit procedures, use atmospheric monitoring equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE), communicate effectively with work teams, and safely enter, work in, and exit confined spaces in accordance with WHS legislation and workplace requirements.

There are no prerequisites for enrolment in this course, however this course does require reading, writing and numeracy skills. Please contact 5th  Point prior to enrolment to discuss our support services if required.

All students who enrol in this course must bring a Unique Student Identifier (USI) number with them.

To obtain a USI, please head to www.usi.gov.au and register. The process takes around 4 min to complete.
